Welcome to Mr. Auad's Teacher Page

Hello!  Hope everyone is doing well!  Just wanted to make note about the lessons linked below.  Kindergarten students will know how to complete the writing portion of the writing lessons (by sounding out and writing words and sentences).  TK students can tell their care giver their stories and ideas, and can have help with writing their words.  Help them by sounding out simple, three letter words.  Making sure they pay close attention to the beginning letter sound.  Spelling does not need to be correct, as long as they write the sounds that they hear.

If you did not receive a 'Interactive Math Homework Book' during conferences, they will be available for pickup tomorrow, Thursday, 3/19, between 10:00-12:00.

Please stay well, and I miss you all!
Distance Learning

Hi! My name is Christopher Auad. This will be my 20th year teaching Kindergarten/Transitional Kindergarten at Corvallis Elementary. In fact, I am one of the inaugural TK teachers since the program’s inception. I believe that TK/Kindergarten is one of the most important grades, as it lays a foundation for students to succeed.

I particularly enjoy seeing former students when they come back for a visit, and hearing about the successes they have had. In class, it inspires me to see the joy and engagement of the children when being read their favorite stories.

The Very Clumsy Click Beetle by Eric Carle

A click beetle is learning to jump and land on his feet, but he is having a very difficult time accomplishing this. Watch and listen to see if the click people can finally make it back to his feet. Please watch to the end for the writing prompt. I do not want to write it here as it will spoil the story! Enjoy!

During the Zoom meeting, I will be reading a story and completing rhyming lesson.

Just one video today, as I will be reading a story during our Zoom get together.  The video I posted is a counting practice video that can be watched daily.  We count to 100 by ones, tens, and fives.  We will continue with our rhyming lessons tomorrow.  I have been working on a way to organize all the videos made, and the resources given.  Look for an announcement soon.

I have posted a link to the Go Noodle website that many of you have heard about.  It will help get your child moving!

Hello Room 16 Student and Families!

You all should have received an email yesterday with the day and time of our next ZOOM meeting, please be sure to check out the attachment I included with the School District's directions on how to join a ZOOM meeting.  I will once again open the ZOOM meeting early to give you time to log in and get settled.

I have added a new link under my picture titled, Sight Words-Cut and Glue.  These are worksheets you may print out if you wish.  The students are familiar with these as we had been completing them in class.  Students are to color (neatly) the letters in the word first.  Next, cut out each letter carefully.  Lastly, glue the letters in the correct order to make the word on a separate piece of paper, and read the word.  This lesson will also encourage important fine motor skills practice.

Two video posts today.  We continue our focus on rhyming this week with our second lesson.  Please be sure to practice on your own with the posted photograph of rhyming picture cards located under the video lesson.  Our story today is a silly story about eating worms for lunch!  In your daily writing assignment, maybe you can tell me what you would like to eat for lunch and why.

Today's Goals

1. watch and listen to the rhyming video
2. match the rhyming picture cards posted in the photograph
3. watch and listen to the story
4. write about what you would like to eat for lunch and why you would like to eat that
5. spend some time on the Raz-Kids reading program
6. practice writing numbers 1-30
7. make sure to get some exercise

Have a nice day!

Rhyming Lesson #2

Watch and follow along with me as I match more sets of rhyming words. Say the words out loud with me so you can hear the letter sounds. After watching, make sure to practice on your own with the photograph I posted under this video post. Thanks for watching!
Now it is your turn to practice matching the rhyming words.  Make sure you say the pictures out loud, using your voice, so you can hear the letter sounds.  For an extra challenge, you can try to sound out and write the matching pair of rhyming words.  Good Luck!

Worms for Lunch? by Leonid Gore

Worms for lunch? Oh no! Read to find out who is going to eat worms for lunch. For you writing lesson today: maybe you can tell me what you had for lunch and if you enjoyed it. Another idea, tell me what you wish you could have for lunch and why you would like that. Want ice cream for lunch? Tell me why! Hope you enjoy the story, and I look forward to seeing what you want for lunch!
