Welcome to Mr. Auad's Teacher Page

Hello!  Hope everyone is doing well!  Just wanted to make note about the lessons linked below.  Kindergarten students will know how to complete the writing portion of the writing lessons (by sounding out and writing words and sentences).  TK students can tell their care giver their stories and ideas, and can have help with writing their words.  Help them by sounding out simple, three letter words.  Making sure they pay close attention to the beginning letter sound.  Spelling does not need to be correct, as long as they write the sounds that they hear.

If you did not receive a 'Interactive Math Homework Book' during conferences, they will be available for pickup tomorrow, Thursday, 3/19, between 10:00-12:00.

Please stay well, and I miss you all!
Distance Learning

Hi! My name is Christopher Auad. This will be my 20th year teaching Kindergarten/Transitional Kindergarten at Corvallis Elementary. In fact, I am one of the inaugural TK teachers since the program’s inception. I believe that TK/Kindergarten is one of the most important grades, as it lays a foundation for students to succeed.

Inspired by
I particularly enjoy seeing former students when they come back for a visit, and hearing about the successes they have had. In class, it inspires me to see the joy and engagement of the children when being read their favorite stories.

Hello Room 16 Students and Families!

Yesterday you should have received an email from me explaining a few important end of school year procedures.  I would like to review that all report card standards will be graded with the, 'standard has not been assessed' grade.  The school district will advice you how to access the Third Trimester report cards.  Please note, Third Trimester report card comments will be emailed directly to your personal email either Monday, June 8 or Tuesday, June 9.

Today's video is a bonus video of a story I recorded but never posted.  I hope you enjoy!

I will be at school today, but check back tomorrow for a special video!

Monday, June 1 Post

Hello Room 16 Students and Families!

Welcome back, and happy Monday!  Today I will be at school gathering and organizing the students' work to be distributed on:

THURSDAY, JUNE 4, 8:30-11:30

I am including a link to the letter the Mr. Dunn-Ruiz explaining in detail how we will hand out the students' work.  His note is also posted at the bottom of the home page on the Corvallis website.  Please take a moment to read his note, as it not only explains how we will be distributing student work, but also discusses a few important end of year procedures.

Please check your email in the upcoming days.  You will be receiving an email from me with the subject line, 'Room 16 End of Year Procedures'.  In this email, I will be explaining in greater detail a few end of year procedures that are specific to Room 16, for example, Third Trimester report card comments.

As we mentioned on Friday, classroom instruction has ended for the year, but I have a few bonus videos planned.  Today, I have posted a video of the story I read at our last Zoom meeting, 'The Thank You Book' by Mo Willems.  This story is dedicated to all the families for helping your children during distance learning.  I know it hasn't always been easy, and I appreciate all you have done!

I will continue to update the daily blog, so please check back tomorrow.

Wishing you all a nice day!

The Thank You Book by Mo Willems

Here is a video of the story I read during our last Zoom meeting. I dedicate this book to all the families for helping your children continue to lean throughout distance learning. I could not have done it without you! I hope you enjoy the story!

Friday, May 29 Post

Hello Room 16 Students and Familes!

If you are reading this before 10:00 am, I hope you can join us for our last classroom Zoom meeting!  This is a special get together where we will be honoring the students for successfully completing the school year!  Please check your email for the information on how to join us.

As I am sure you now by know by now, today is the last day of student instruction.  Going forward, I will not be posting any new video lessons that introduce new concepts, or posting daily goals.  I will still post a daily blog keeping everyone updated on school events.  I highly recommend checking the daily post to make sure you receive the latest updates.  I will also still post a video once in a while.  Most likely a story, or a surprise or two.  During the last week of school, I will be working in the classroom gathering and organizing the students' work to hand out to families.

student work pick up day is:
Thursday, June 4, 8:30-11:30

Please follow the directions on how to enter the school loop when arriving to school.  Please stay in your car, and we will hand you your child's projects.

I will also be sending an email at the beginning of next week with a more detailed explanation of end of school year procedures.

During this last week of school, I encourage students to continue to spend time with the Raz-Kids and Happy Numbers programs.  You may want to check out the Resources Topic in the Google Classroom to see if there are any links you may like to revisit.  You can also always rewatch previous videos I have made, there are over 75 of them!

Today we have two videos.  It is Friday, so we have our Second Step lessons.  Today we discuss the problem of having something taken away from you, like a ball at recess.  Watch as we find solutions to our problem.

Since this is the last day of instruction, I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all the families for their perseverance and patience during distance learning.  I could not have done it without your support, and I thank all of you!  You are the best!

Today's Goals

1. attend Zoom session
2. watch both Second Step videos, ask how you can help a family member today
3. watch a story in the SLZUSD Story Time topic, maybe comment on the story you watched
4. practice letter identification and sound skills by watching the video titled, 'Letter Identification and Sound Practice" under the Language Arts Basics topic
5. writing lesson: write about the favorite thing you did in TK/Kindergarten.  Parents, please share with me if you can!
