Welcome to Mr. Auad's Teacher Page

Hello!  Hope everyone is doing well!  Just wanted to make note about the lessons linked below.  Kindergarten students will know how to complete the writing portion of the writing lessons (by sounding out and writing words and sentences).  TK students can tell their care giver their stories and ideas, and can have help with writing their words.  Help them by sounding out simple, three letter words.  Making sure they pay close attention to the beginning letter sound.  Spelling does not need to be correct, as long as they write the sounds that they hear.

If you did not receive a 'Interactive Math Homework Book' during conferences, they will be available for pickup tomorrow, Thursday, 3/19, between 10:00-12:00.

Please stay well, and I miss you all!

2. watch the Second Step video and ask a family member how you can help them today

Hello Room 16 Students and Families!

Thank You again for your patience yesterday with our Zoom meeting.  It looks like Zoom was having trouble right around the time we were all trying to log in.  I was so happy with the turnout we had for the meeting, and I hope to repeat that again Friday.  Please check your email later today for Friday's Zoom meeting information.  Also, good news, I learned how to make the password for the Zoom meetings easier.  So please take note of that.

I hope you all enjoyed our first dinosaur lesson yesterday, and I hope to see the Brontosaurus' you drew!  Today we learn about the Stegosaurus

To those of you completing the Raz-Kids reading program, did you know you can change the difficulty level of the books you are reading?  After clicking on the Reading Room rocket, click on the circle at the top of the screen the says, 'Leveled Books'.  From there you can select level A and B books.  Don't forget to answer the comprehension questions when finished reading.

Three videos today.  Two videos about the Stegosaurus, and our daily story.  Today, I picked the classic, 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle.

Today's Goals

1. watch and learn about the Stegosaurus
2. watch the 'How To Draw' video on the Stegosaurus, and practice drawing the dinosaur.
3. watch the story, and complete the writing prompt
4. spend some time on the Raz-Kids reading program, consider raising the difficulty level if the books are too easy

Hello Room 16 Students and Families!

DINOSAURUS!

Usually around this time of the year, the class would be engaged in a dinosaur unit.  I thought I could try my best to replicate that unit with the daily video posts.  Over the next 5 days, I will introduce to the students different types of dinosaurs.  We will focus on one dinosaur each day, learning interesting facts, and how to draw the dinosaur.  Today we start with the Brontosaurus.  I hope you and your child has fun with these lessons, and finds them interesting.

Two videos today, one video describing the Brontosaurus, and the other video showing you how to draw the dinosaur.

No story video post today, as I will be reading the next book in our Donald Crews series during our classroom Zoom meeting.  I encourage you to check out the SLZUSD story time topic in the Google classroom for a read aloud story.  Maybe leave a comment if you like.  Directions on how to join the Google Classroom our in the May 4 post.

A reminder that I sent an email with the information to join our Zoom meeting this morning at 10:00.  Hope you can join us!  We will be reading a story, and playing 'What Picture is Next'.

Today's Goals
1. attend the classroom Zoom meeting
2. watch the video and learn about the Brontosaurus
3. watch the 'How to Draw' video, and practice drawing the Brontosaurus
4. watch a story in the SLZUSD story time topic in the Google classroom
5. spend some time with Happy Numbers
6. spend some time with the Raz-Kids reading program

Brontosaurus-How to Draw

Tuesday, May 12 Post

Hello Room 16 Students and Families!

Today you will receive an email with the information concerning our next Zoom get together.  It is scheduled for this Wednesday, May 13 at 10:00 am.  I will send a reminder email Wednesday morning.  Hope you can join us!

Two videos today.  Our last pattern video, where we introduce the ABC pattern. I have also posted a story I read in a previous Zoom meeting as I heard many students enjoyed it.  It is, 'Grumpy Cat' by Brittanis Teckentrup.  Make sure you watch until the end for the writing prompt.  I am excited about the next series of lessons that I will begin to post Wednesday, so I hope you will check back here tomorrow!

I appreciate the growing number of families who have joined the Google classroom.  I have now posted over 50 videos that are stored and organized in the classroom.  There are also new and different stories read by Ms. McJilton (under the SLZUSD topic) for you to check out.

I discovered this link yesterday that had Lego coloring pages.  I know a few of the students have shared their Lego creations during our Zoom meetings, so I thought this link might interest you.  If you have access to a printer, you can print out the Lego mini figure coloring pages.  Coloring is a good way to practice fine motor skills and can often help students destress.

Today's Goals

1. watch the pattern video and make your own pattern by drawing it on paper
2. watch the story, and complete the writing prompt
3. if possible, find another activity to complete on the Oakland Zoo distance learning page.
4. spend some time on the Raz-Kids reading program
5. spend some time on the Happy Numbers math program, OR complete a few pages in your Interactive Math Workbook
6. complete an activity on the Go Noodle site (link in Google classroom)
7. maybe watch a show on the PBS Kids site (link in Google classroom)

Wishing you all a nice day!
