Tuesday, May 26 Post

Hello Room 16 Students and Families!

Welcome back, and happy Tuesday!  We start with some important news.  This week is tentatively scheduled to be the last week of instruction (I will still post a blog keeping you informed of important information), as teachers are going to be allowed back into the classroom starting next Monday, June 1.  This will give me time to start gathering and organizing student projects that have been saved in the classroom since mid-March.  Families will be given a day and time to pick up their children's work, by driving through the school loop and being handed their projects.  I will let you know what time we are scheduled for as soon as I find out, and the time is confirmed.  It also looks like this week will be our last Zoom meetings as well, so I hope you can join us!

Two videos today.  This week we begin a series of lessons on addition.  Before we began distance learning, Kindergarten students were working on completing addition problems.  I thought it would be good to review what we have learned, and introduce TK students to addition.  Our story today is a classic, 'Caps For Sale' by Esphyr Slobodkina.  Make sure you watch to the end for the writing prompt.

Also, a very cool link discovered by Mrs. Penaranda about the East Bay Regional Park system.  After clicking the link, make sure to scroll down for many fun and interesting science videos.  I hope you check it out!  I will also post the link in the Google classroom.

Families, please check your email today for the information on how to join our Wednesday, May 27 Zoom get together.

As always, thank you for all you do to help your child with distance learning.  I really appreciate it, and could not do it without you.
