Good Morning Room 16 Students and Families!

Happy Monday to you all, and I hope you are all doing well.  First off, thank you to all who have subscribed to the classroom page (subscribe button is under my picture), I am hoping that you are being notified when I post.  If you have not yet responded to the email I sent you last week, I ask that you please do so at your earliest convenience.  This way I can send you personalized tips and suggestions on how to help your child.  I also need to keep record of who I have been in contact with.  If you did not receive an email from me, I ask that you email me at [email protected] so I have your most current email.  Now on to today's lesson.

I thought for today's writing lesson, students could focus on what they did this past weekend.  A few ideas to get them started are; writing about a game they played, what they had for dinner, or something they made.  Remember to draw a picture, label the picture, and have them try to write down the sounds they hear in words and sentences.  Parents, it is ok to help (I encourage it), and spelling does not need to be perfect.  If you would like, take a picture of the writing and include it in an email to me.  I would be nice to see them!

Now for that special link I promised on Friday.  The students love the books written and illustrated by Mo Willems (Piggie & Gerald, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus).  He has started a series of videos on YouTube called: Lunch Time Doodles with Mo Willems!  They are approximately 30 minutes in length.  They may be a bit long for the little ones, but towards the end of the first few videos, Mo Willems will demonstrate how to draw one of his popular characters step by step, so have a paper and markers ready!  I would start with the video titled, 'Announcing: Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems' on YouTube.  The following videos are then numbered.  I will try to include a link in another post, but you can always search for 'Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems' on YouTube.  I hope the students find these videos entertaining, and as always, if you like, take a picture of your child's drawing and send it to me.

Tomorrow I will be sharing with you a math mini-lesson.  Please always check your email, as I will be emailing families throughout the week.  Until tomorrow morning, have a good day, and stay safe!
