Fifth Grade


Hello Class,


I am Mrs. Magidson. Welcome to Room 510 and fifth grade! We are going to be reaching for our personal best this year, so be ready to be the best YOU!


I have planned a great year ahead and am looking forward to getting started.

 

The following directions are meant to assist all families remotely.

 

In order to access your google account follow the directions below.


  1. Go to google.
  2. Click on the icon on the top right. It may be an image or letter of the alphabet that identifies whom the account belongs to.
  3. After this click add another account.
  4. Then you will put your user id from school which will be a five digit number and @student.slzusd.org. An example of this would be [email protected]
  5. Next you will use your password.
  6. After this you can use Canvas, google classroom, NEWSELA, brainpop, raz-kids… if it asks you to login use the google suite option and you should be set.

District Tools I Use 

Attendance 
I take attendance using Aeries. You can stay on top of attendance through the Aeries Family Portal or Aeries App

Report Cards  
I use Aeries to generate report cards. Families can view report cards through the Aeries Family Portal.

Google Classroom
I will be using Google Classroom to manage some assignments. I can invite you as a guardian if you like. Please email me with your request and email address.

First Day of School 2020 - 2021

A couple of reminders:

  1. To access zoom meeting students must be logged into their school google account. If they are using school equipment this will automatically go there.
    1. If using personal equipment go to google and add an account using your students user id.

  If you are having trouble accessing the class zoom meeting this is what the Technology Department suggests. Please have your student login with their @student.slzusd.org account, then have them click the waffle to access the Zoom-Slzusd icon.  We need for them to be signed in with their student account and then click your Zoom link to join your meeting.

 

 

Distance Learning Changes for Room 25

Dear Students and Families of Room 25,


My name is Mrs. Magidson and I will be your fourth grade teacher. The 2020 - 2021 school year is knocking at the door! I am very excited to welcome you to Fourth Grade! It's going to be a year different from all the years before. This year we start the year with distance learning. We will be meeting daily via zoom, google meet, google classroom, Seesaw, and other digital tools.


Although this year will begin differently, let me assure you many things will remain the same. I will be using the California State Learning Standards for fourth grade to guide all instruction. I have the expectation that every student will attempt, complete, and submit all assignments. I will be giving instruction at designated times. Additionally I will be meeting with small groups and available throughout the school day via email, google classroom, zoom, and/or phone.


It is an unusual time in history for schooling. We will be talking about this time in history for years to come. It is important to remember that staying motivated and on top of all school work should remain a priority. Many of you will attempt, complete and turn in every single distance learning assignment. You should be proud of yourselves and continue to strive for great success. Remember, when you're tired, bored, or discontent, reach down and pull yourself up, keep reaching for those stars. Staying motivated and continue to strive for excellence. This is a life lesson that will take you far! 


I want to thank all of the parents and each one of my students this year. We will learn many things about ourselves and what we are capable of. This will be a year of great adventure. To all my 4th graders Ms. Newton and Mr. Groves tell me you are set and ready for this year, let's make it a year to remember! I want to thank you in advance for just being you! As we begin this year learning about ourselves and others remember our classroom golden rule is kindness first!

Let's have a safe, healthy and wonderful school year. Here we come 2020 - 2021!
