Welcome Back!
Welcome Back to School, Wildcats!
As summer comes to an end, the staff at Corvallis has prepared for the start of the new school year and is excited to see all of you on the first day of school, August 13.
We hope you will join us for the Back to School Ice Cream Social on August 12 at 4PM where you can get your classroom assignment and meet your new teacher.
I am so excited to begin my first year as principal here at Corvallis Elementary. I appreciate the warm welcomes and support and look forward to meeting all of you. While this is my first year at Corvallis, I am not new to SLZUSD. I have worked for the last 10 years as the Coordinator of English Learner Programs and 11 years before that as the Principal of Del Rey Elementary. I grew up in the Washington Manor and graduated from Arroyo High School in 1985.
The staff is excited to see returning students. For those of you, like me, who are new to Corvallis, we cannot wait to meet you. We are lucky to have a team of dedicated and caring teachers and staff who are ready to welcome your children with open arms. We also have two new teachers this year. Donnamarie Marr-Clark joins us in our 1st/2nd SDC and Krystal Thomas joins our 5th grade team. Other changes to our teaching staff this year include Mr. Abbatantuono moving from 5th to 4th grade, Ms. Mendiola moving from 1st/2nd SDC to Resource Specialist and Mr. Bulijan has moved from 4th to Kindergarten.
At Corvallis, we strive to build a culture of success by providing equitable and challenging educational opportunities for all students. This year, students and teachers will be using new instructional materials for English Language Arts and English Language Development. We will continue using iReady to intervene where our students need more time and will share information about our diagnostics and customized paths for each student's needs.
Wildcats will be safe, responsible, and respectful individuals who value one another’s unique and diverse contributions.
Please join our PTA and sign up to be a Volunteer Level 2.
The first day of school is August 13, 2026. Please come to campus on August 12, 2026 from 4 to 5PM to pick up your first day packet with your schedule and basic information.
If you have questions, please contact our front office (510) 317-4901. Please be sure to review the drop-off and pick-up procedure before our first day, August 13, 2026.
This school year, you will be receiving communications through Parentsquare. Download the app or visit parentsquare.com
Please don't hesitate to contact your teacher via email if you have any classroom questions or concerns.
Let’s make this school year a great one!
